Summer Camp

Make your summer sewing camp reservations now! Camp at So You...starts June 1 and runs to Aug. 28. Each week is $175 per person or $50. per day. We also offer Flex days. What are flex days. These are for people who do not plan that far in advance. You can book a weeks' worth of classes and take it any time during the summer. Camps are project driven so all sewing levels are welcomed. Great for campers age 6-15. This is for both the Sparkill and Pompton Lake Studios.

June 28 – July 2 – Fashion Camp will be at Jersey City campus.  3rd – 8th grade students. (open to the public) Learn how to use a sewing machine and create your own custom made clothing.  Campers will learn the skills necessary to use patterns and sewing machines to construct their own clothing and accessories. On Friday afternoon, there will be a fashion show where campers will model their creations. 8:30 – 4 each day. Contact Stevens Cooperative for registration

July 5 – July 9 – Jewelry Camp – appropriate for 3rd – 8th graders. ( open to the public) During this week campers will learn to use the tools and equipment to design and make earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Techniques will include beading, stacking, weaving and wire work. 8:30 – 4 each day. Contact Stevens Cooperative for registration 

July 19 – July 23 – Sally Sews by the Seashore sewing camp. Appropriate for any youth who has already slept away from home. Campers will travel to the NJ shore where we will make a small sleep chair, shorts, summer tops, tote bag, and a summer sundress! This camp is limited to 8 participants and held at a private home. The fee is $600 per person.  Supply lists will be given after paid registration.  NOTE:  THIS CAMP WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IF THERE ARE LESS THAN 4 PARTICIPANTS.  

JULY 26 – 30 - Mommy and Me camp – Appropriate for significant female adult and youth from 7 -10  years old. FROM 9 – 11 each day, participants will work together to learn how to sew a pair of pull on pants, an apron, and tote bag. Supply lists will be given at registration.  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY – all skills will be taught at this beginner class.  $150.00 per team for the week. This camp will be held at the Upper Saddle River Cultural Center.

JULY 26 – 30- Sewing Day Camp - each day from 12 – 4 participants will make various projects from basic quilts to doll clothes! Each day will be a new sewing adventure! Appropriate for beginner sewers from 7 – 12 years old. - $175.00. all supplies included. This camp will be held at the Upper Saddle River Cultural Center. 

August 9 – 13 – Sew-Away. This camp is for the fashion focused sewer.  Space is limited to 8 participants.  We will be going to a private home in Saugerties, NY for a fun fashion week.  Appropriate for youth from 12 – 15 years old.  This will be a fabulous way to focus on fashion and fun while learning the skills of fashion sewing!  The supply list will be given upon paid registration. NOTE:  THIS CAMP WILL NOT TAKE PLACE IF THERE ARE LESS THAN 4 PARTICIPANTS. The fee for this camp is $720.00

 

AUGUST 16 – 20 Design Diva at Upper Saddle River Cultural Center - Learn how to use a sewing machine and create your own custom made clothing.  Campers will learn the skills necessary to use patterns and sewing machines to construct their own clothing and accessories. On Saturday the 21st -  afternoon, there will be a fashion show where campers will model their creations. 10 - 3 each day. The fee is $250.00 per person. Materials included.

 

SUMMER SEWING CAMP AT SO YOU… from 6/1 – 9/4 - Each week from 10 – 3 each day, So You… offers a fun filled learning environment where participants will make a variety of projects from basic quilts to doll clothes, clothing, purses and pillows and so much more. Each day is as different as your creativity can make it! All materials and lunch is included in the fee.  $175.00 per person… remember, we have flex days for this camp.  Pay for the 5 days/25 hours we keep track and you come to camp when you can!  Siblings are entitled to a 20% discount!

FIT in a week Fashion Design Workshop.

So You... Sewing and Design Studio is offering a Fashion Design Workshop. For 5 days, Students will be introduced to all aspects of fashion and design. 
Day 1 will consist learning about fabrics and color.
Day 2 will introduce merchandising and design principles.
Day 3 we will begin to sew.
Day 4 we will complete our first garment.
Day 5 we will redesign an article of clothing using all information gathered from the weeks' learning. This is a fast paced course and will prove most valuable to students wanting to learn about fashion and design as a possible career choice. Although this is a dedicated course, the So You... staff is there to assist the student, and therefore appropriate for even the beginner!  Time: 10 - 5 at the Sparkill Studio.
Details:   Workbooks, sketchbooks and fabric reference books are also included in the cost. Lunch is also included.  Enrollment is limited to 6 students per session.

So You...SLEEP AND SEW AWAY'S CAMP
Become an expert seamstress in just one summer!  

So You... will have sleep away Sessions.
Join one, two or all three weeks!
SEW AWAY'S will be given the week of...(Dates to be announce)
So You... SASSY Girls (Sew Away Sewing Stylish Youth) will complete all 12 levels of sewing.  They will learn all  important techniques of sewing and come home with a brand new wardrobe!  Each student will be given supply lists upon full payment. Students will be staying at Vivian's Crystal Springs house.  The fee for this incredible week? JUST $720.00 per person. There will be three So You instructors available. Machines and sewing supplies will be made available by So You...

Sleep away's (Friday Night to Sunday afternoon) are offered each month and are available for adults and youth.

THE MAD GIRL CLUB

 

 The Mad Girl Club is for girls who enjoy creativity, individuality, sewing fashion, meeting new people and expressing themselves through art.  The Mad Girl Club will meet every Tuesday from 4 – 6.  The fee is $10.00 per week per girl, and will require an initial $10.00 membership fee. Each Mad Girl Club Member will also receive a Mad Girl ‘ Doin’ My Thing tee shirt” !  The goal of the club is to re-design, de-construct, re- purpose and recycle clothing and accessories. The sky is the limit! All club members are encouraged to participate in the annual Fashion show held in April, 2010 where they will show off their unique designs.  

So You… offers Summer Camp, Winter Camp, School Break Camps, and Sewing Fun Days. All Camps are held at the So You… facility at both Locations when applicable. Camp Sessions are from 10:00  to 3:00 P.M. / Full Day session (unless noted). Camps are structured in a way that the participants make projects. We try to incorporate sewing into every venture, and participants will never make the same item twice!

Although we do not teach sewing during camp, participants will learn basic sewing skills. They will sew – by hand and machine, make jewelry, cards and much, much more.  Call Vivian for details or email  soyougirl@yahoo.com

School is starting and does your child need a creative outlet? How about a program that improves self esteem, confidence, process thinking, focus, social interaction and eye hand coordination? What could it be? 
SEWING, That's right! - SEWING.
 
OH! And I forgot to mention it is also a lot of fun!
 
So You... Sewing and Design Studio is NOW ACCEPTING REGISTRATIONS  for the
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM starting September 8th!  
What is the program about? - It is like camp once a week! It is project driven and we have many project ideas! What could be more fun! And learning too! Everyone will sew on the machine - and this is a perfect opportunity for kids to learn to sew, meet new friends and learn a skill they will have and use for life! We have all the machines and materials at the studio.
Appropriate for age 6 - 12.  Boys and Girls welcome!

What is on Wednesday?   Techniques classes - Each level builds on the previous one! In total there are 12 levels of sewing!- this class meets every Wednesday 4 - 6.  Reach level 12 and receive a certificate of completion and a So You... workbag!
